The Kursaal Story – Bexhill Museum half-day school
Bexhill’s Kursaal has always been a subject of wonder and curiosity. It is no longer there, of course, but how could this stylish, exotic looking centre of entertainment have come to a small resort on the South Coast ? How did it attract the Musical Director of Drury Lane Theatre no less as Manager who brought the top acts of the day to perform ?
Bexhill Museum now has a superb scale model of the Kursaal so that we can imagine exactly what it looked like.
Julian Porter will, in his talk on Saturday 26th May, share some new research into the Kursaal’s story, how it came to be built, what it could offer the smart visitor and especially some surprising stories about the stars themselves.
The illustrated talk is from 2pm to 4.30pm and costs £8.50 ( £7.50 for members ) which includes refreshments. Call into the museum to book or telephone 787950 to reserve a place.
