BEXHILL'S LOST WORLD PROJECT

Bexhill’s Lost World

Revealing our hidden history

Bexhill’s Lost World project will create an exciting and engaging experience, enabling visitors to access and learn about Rother’s important local history from dinosaurs to 1066.

A new gallery created at the existing Bexhill Museum to house the archaeological archives discovered at the site of the Bexhill to Hastings Link Road will provide Bexhill with a centre of excellence for heritage, learning and research.

This will support the wider regeneration of the town. It will attract more visitors, helping in the mission to boost the local business economy. It will strengthen the links between the town centre, Egerton Park, the seafront and the De La Warr Pavilion, creating an inclusive and vibrant Bexhill cultural and tourist offer.

The outcomes of Bexhill’s Lost World project will

Enable the museum to house and display the archaeological archives creating an exciting new multi-use, interactive gallery which will attract and enthral a wide range of visitors

Engage with Bexhill’s growing and diverse communities to learn about and understand the importance of 140 million years of our history within a national and international context

Encourage more people to access existing and new archives in innovative ways

Ensure that Bexhill Museum is a leading cultural attraction in the region and can continue in its mission for ‘encouraging discovery’
